Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of city sidewalks, roads, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment including snowplows, street sweepers, and utility vehicles
- Respond to emergency storm damage and debris removal operations
- Conduct routine inspections and report infrastructure deficiencies
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment maintenance records
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated public works projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years experience in municipal maintenance or construction
- Certification in heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of traffic control and work zone safety
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
- Chicago residency required within 6 months of hire
