Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city facilities, roads, and public spaces
- Operate heavy machinery including mowers, tractors, and excavation equipment
- Respond to emergency service calls during inclement weather and public events
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on urban development projects
- Document work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred
- Valid North Carolina Class B driver's license
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or facility maintenance
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (CDL a plus)
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
