Responsibilities
- Perform routine street maintenance including pothole repairs, sidewalk inspections, and snow removal operations
- Operate heavy machinery including street sweepers, garbage trucks, and hydraulic lifts with proper safety protocols
- Respond to emergency service requests within designated timeframes (e.g., downed tree limbs, flooding)
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs to supervisors
- Maintain accurate work logs and digital reporting systems for operational transparency
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams during city-wide events and infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to operate heavy equipment
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
- Successfully complete background check and fingerprinting process
