Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate and maintain heavy machinery, including dump trucks, backhoes, street sweepers, and grinders.
- Street Maintenance: Perform pothole repairs, crack sealing, pavement marking, and road patching to ensure safe travelways.
- Drainage & Infrastructure: Clear storm drains, ditches, and rights-of-way to prevent flooding and maintain proper water flow.
- Snow & Ice Operations: Execute snow removal and ice control duties during inclement weather events to maintain public safety.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to OSHA safety regulations, City policies, and traffic control procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and tools to ensure operational readiness.
- Community Service: Interact with residents professionally and assist with public inquiries regarding city services.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- License: Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, utilities, or public works is preferred but not always required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to read maps and schematics is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to public service.
