Your Role:
In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our municipal infrastructure. From street maintenance to facility upkeep, your work will directly impact the safety and quality of life for thousands of residents. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on municipal infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, and public facilities to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency service requests and citizen complaints, utilizing your technical expertise to resolve issues efficiently and minimize public disruption.
- Equipment Operation: Safely and effectively operate heavy machinery, trucks, and specialized tools required for municipal maintenance tasks, adhering to all operational protocols.
- Compliance & Safety: Strictly adhere to all city safety regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and the public.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering and planning departments, to support large-scale civic projects and improve service delivery.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of work performed, repairs made, and materials used to facilitate transparent reporting and inventory management.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; additional vocational training or certification in a related technical field is a plus.
- Licensing: Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred. Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public works, facility maintenance, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair basic equipment and systems.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with the public and city staff.
