Responsibilities
- Perform street cleaning, waste collection, and snow removal operations
- Operate and maintain municipal equipment (trucks, sweepers, etc.)
- Respond to emergency service requests during severe weather events
- Conduct routine inspections of assigned sanitation routes
- Collaborate with supervisors to optimize operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and NYC sanitation regulations
- Provide courteous public service during community interactions
Qualifications
- Valid New York State driver's license required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment operation
- Flexible availability including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Prior municipal or public works experience preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in all weather conditions
