Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city facilities, parks, and infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment for landscaping and construction projects
- Assist with public event setup, cleanup, and logistical support
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with municipal regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and execute community projects
- Document work activities and maintain accurate equipment records
- Respond to emergency public works requests as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance, construction, or public works experience
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., dump trucks, mowers, excavators)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Certifications in CPR/First Aid a plus
