Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and public buildings
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency service requests during inclement weather or public events
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on large-scale urban improvement projects
- Document work activities and maintain accurate records of materials and labor
- Participate in community outreach initiatives to educate residents on public services
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid New York State driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment (excavators, graders, etc.)
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and physically demanding environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
