Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of city roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery (sweepers, loaders, dump trucks) safely and efficiently
- Respond to urgent public works emergencies including storm debris removal and pothole repairs
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and city regulations
- Document work activities and maintain equipment maintenance logs
- Provide excellent service to residents during field operations
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
- Minimum 2 years of municipal construction or public works experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of Detroit's infrastructure systems preferred
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
