Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and maintain facility security during night shifts
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections to enforce rules and prevent contraband
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and security breaches with precision
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Screen visitors, vehicles, and packages to ensure facility integrity
- Operate security systems including surveillance cameras and access controls
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during critical incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid New York State driver's license
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass background investigation
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Ability to work rotating night shifts (11 PM - 7 AM)
- Physical fitness to handle emergencies and restrain individuals
- Strong communication skills under pressure
- Completion of state-mandated correctional training program
