Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility protocols during overnight hours
- Conduct regular security checks and headcounts to maintain safety standards
- Respond to emergencies and incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Document incidents and maintain detailed shift reports
- Collaborate with law enforcement during inmate transfers and transports
- Operate security systems including surveillance equipment and access controls
- Provide crisis intervention and support to inmates as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Ability to pass background check and polygraph examination
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to work rotating night shifts (7pm-7am)
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Physical ability to restrain inmates and respond to emergencies
