Responsibilities
- Maintain security and order within correctional facilities during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular inmate counts and headcounts to ensure accountability
- Monitor surveillance systems and patrol premises to prevent disturbances
- Enforce institutional rules and respond to incidents per protocol
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Screen visitors, mail, and packages to prevent contraband entry
- Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification preferred
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and physical fitness test
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong observational skills and situational awareness
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and de-escalate conflicts
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and documentation
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
