Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations to maintain security and order
- Conduct regular rounds and headcounts to ensure accountability and prevent contraband
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation of facility operations
- Escort inmates during transfers, court appearances, and medical appointments
- Operate security systems including surveillance equipment and access control points
- Collaborate with healthcare, counseling, and rehabilitation staff to support inmate programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (college coursework in criminal justice preferred)
- Valid Arizona driver's license with clean driving record
- Must be at least 21 years old and pass comprehensive background check
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on rotating schedule
- Physical fitness to perform duties including running, climbing stairs, and restraining inmates
- Basic computer skills for report writing and facility management systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain correctional officer certification within 6 months
