As a critical member of our security team, you'll ensure the safety and rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals while maintaining secure facility operations. This role provides excellent work-life balance through fixed night schedules and minimal overtime requirements.
Responsibilities
- Monitor facility security during night shifts through regular patrols and surveillance
- Enforce institutional rules and respond to incidents per department protocols
- Conduct headcounts and maintain accurate documentation of inmate movements
- Operate security systems including control panels and emergency response equipment
- Coordinate with day shift staff for seamless transition of critical information
- Participate in emergency response drills and crisis management training
- Prepare detailed shift reports and incident documentation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass background check and physical fitness assessment
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and system operation
- Strong communication skills and conflict resolution abilities
- Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred
- Must be available for rotating weekend shifts
- Successfully complete state-mandated correctional officer training
