Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced IT professional to oversee the daily operations of our server environments and workstations during our critical night shift. You will act as the first line of defense for system integrity and performance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain server health, security, and performance for federal networks during night operations.
- Perform proactive system patching, updates, and backup verification to ensure 99.9% uptime.
- Respond to and resolve Level 2/3 helpdesk tickets and critical system alerts.
- Conduct nightly security audits and vulnerability scans to comply with federal standards.
- Collaborate with day-shift teams to document incidents, resolutions, and system changes.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control lists (ACLs) securely.
- Assist in the deployment of new hardware and software configurations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration or IT support.
- Active Tier 2 or Tier 3 technical support experience required.
- Familiarity with federal IT environments and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA).
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and VMware.
- Ability to work independently and reliably during night shifts (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM).
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent written/oral communication.
- CompTIA Security+ or higher certification is a plus.
