Responsibilities
- Sort and Process Mail: Sort incoming and outgoing mail and packages efficiently using automated equipment and manual methods.
- Operate Equipment: Safely operate letter sorting machines, canceling machines, and other mail processing tools.
- Package Handling: Manually sort packages and ensure proper routing according to delivery routes and priorities.
- Adherence to Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with OSHA and USPS safety regulations.
- Quality Control: Verify the accuracy of mail processing and resolve any discrepancies immediately.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a fast-paced team environment to meet daily production goals.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required for this federal position.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal history background check and drug screening.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs repeatedly, stand for extended periods, and bend or twist frequently.
- Availability: Must be available to work night shifts (typically 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM) including weekends and holidays.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
