Responsibilities
- Monitor and defend network systems 24/7 during the night shift to prevent cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Perform routine system maintenance, patching, and upgrades during off-hours to minimize downtime for state services.
- Analyze security logs, alerts, and traffic patterns to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities in real-time.
- Collaborate with the day-shift operations team to escalate critical incidents and document findings for continuity.
- Ensure strict compliance with state and federal cybersecurity standards, including HIPAA and NIST protocols.
- Maintain detailed, accurate logs of all network activities, security interventions, and system performance metrics.
- Respond to and resolve network outages and connectivity issues with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; Associate degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and demonstrated ability to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Texas security clearance.
