Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty sanitation vehicles, including rear loaders and front loaders, to collect and transport residential and commercial waste.
- Perform manual labor duties such as lifting, carrying, and shoveling snow, debris, and waste during extreme weather conditions.
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the public.
- Inspect collection routes for missed pickups or safety hazards and report them immediately to supervisors.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service when interacting with residents.
- Adhere to all DSNY policies, procedures, and union guidelines.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawfully Authorized Permanent Resident (Green Card).
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is highly preferred but not always required for entry-level positions (training available).
- Ability to pass a mandatory drug screen and background check.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Physical stamina required to perform heavy lifting and operate heavy machinery.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and snow.
