Responsibilities
- Administer federal pension plans (CSRS/FERS) including retirement applications, benefit calculations, and adjustments
- Ensure strict adherence to federal regulations, OPM guidelines, and ERISA compliance
- Provide expert guidance to federal employees on retirement planning, survivor benefits, and annuity options
- Process complex pension transactions, including disability retirements and survivor benefit elections
- Conduct thorough audits of pension records and financial transactions
- Collaborate with HR departments and external agencies to resolve pension discrepancies
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of pension processes and decisions
- Stay current on federal retirement legislation and benefit policy changes
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship (mandatory for federal employment)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, HR, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of pension plan administration or benefits experience
- Deep knowledge of federal retirement systems (CSRS/FERS) and OPM regulations
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Excellent communication abilities for explaining complex benefit concepts
