Responsibilities
- Member Services & Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for pension plan members, answering inquiries regarding benefits, vesting schedules, and payment status with empathy and accuracy.
- Data Analysis & Compliance: Review and process pension calculations, ensuring strict adherence to state and federal regulations (ERISA) and internal auditing standards.
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical records for all active and retired participants, ensuring data integrity across all systems.
- Plan Administration: Assist in the preparation of monthly reports and quarterly actuarial summaries, supporting the executive team in strategic decision-making.
- Benefit Education: Develop and deliver educational workshops and written materials to help participants understand their pension options and retirement planning strategies.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current workflows and propose modern solutions to enhance member experience and operational speed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or CPA/CFA designation is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, government benefits, or actuarial support.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access) and experience with HRIS or pension administration software (e.g., Ceridian, SAP SuccessFactors).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of government compliance standards, ERISA guidelines, and state labor laws.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Availability: Must be available to work a part-time schedule (typically 15-25 hours per week), including some flexibility for meetings or training sessions.
