Job Summary
In this role, you will manage, organize, and retrieve a wide variety of public and private records. You will assist the Records Department with document archiving, maintain accurate digital and physical filing systems, and provide exceptional service to city staff and the general public. Your ability to maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail will be essential to your success.
Responsibilities
- Manage and organize physical and digital government records in accordance with Texas Government Code and federal preservation standards.
- Assist the Records Department with the timely retrieval, scanning, and archiving of documents.
- Update and maintain filing databases and index systems with a high degree of accuracy.
- Process incoming mail, correspondence, and inter-departmental requests efficiently.
- Provide general information and assistance to the public regarding record access policies and procedures.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of sensitive government information at all times.
- Collaborate with other City departments to streamline records management processes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in a government, municipal, or clerical office setting is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer literacy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Must be available to work a part-time schedule as assigned (typically evenings or weekends).
