Responsibilities
- Conduct park patrols to monitor visitor safety, enforce regulations, and protect natural/cultural resources
- Lead interpretive programs including guided walks, wildlife talks, and historical presentations
- Perform routine facility maintenance including trail upkeep, restroom cleaning, and habitat restoration
- Respond to visitor inquiries and emergencies with first aid/CPR assistance
- Document wildlife sightings, visitor statistics, and maintenance needs using digital reporting tools
- Collaborate with volunteer groups for conservation projects and community outreach events
- Operate park vehicles and equipment safely following state protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in environmental science preferred
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts (early mornings/late evenings)
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual Spanish highly desirable
- Physical ability to hike 5+ miles on uneven terrain and lift 50 lbs
- Experience with customer service, public speaking, or outdoor education
- Pass background check and fingerprinting for state employment
