Responsibilities
- Process and review pension applications and retirement requests with strict adherence to state regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough eligibility reviews and verify documentation to ensure accurate benefit calculations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries from retirees and employees regarding pension benefits, vesting, and payout options.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date records in the state's financial management system.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources and Payroll teams to resolve complex discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Prepare routine reports on pension processing metrics and assist in the continuous improvement of departmental procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Public Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, benefits administration, or financial customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity.
