Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with compassion and efficiency
- Operate radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Coordinate emergency services (police, fire, EMS) during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Provide clear instructions to callers during emergency situations
- Multi-task between phone, radio, and computer systems simultaneously
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and departmental policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Basic computer literacy and typing proficiency (minimum 35 WPM)
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong communication skills with clear enunciation
- Ability to pass background investigation and drug screening
- Valid Texas driver's license with good driving record
- Must be 18 years or older and a U.S. citizen
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
