Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately record emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain detailed logs of all calls, dispatches, and officer activities.
- Communicate clearly and efficiently with field units via radio to provide updates and instructions.
- Maintain composure and accuracy during high-stress situations and critical incidents.
- Monitor police radio frequencies for officer status and resource needs.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to type 35-40 words per minute accurately.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, and medical evaluation.
