Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritizing critical incidents
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio equipment
- Provide precise instructions to callers during medical/trauma emergencies
- Coordinate with police, fire, EMS, and other city agencies
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation
- Utilize de-escalation techniques for distressed callers
- Participate in ongoing scenario-based training drills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to type 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Clear verbal communication in English (bilingual Spanish a plus)
- Valid Tennessee driver's license
- No felony convictions or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer systems
- Pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
