Job Summary
The Police Dispatcher Trainee is responsible for receiving and transmitting emergency and non-emergency information via telephone, radio, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD). You will maintain communication with field units, update incident status, and ensure the timely arrival of emergency services.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls efficiently and accurately.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to appropriate locations based on caller information.
- Maintain accurate records in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and records management software.
- Monitor and operate radio communications equipment and telephone systems.
- Provide critical information to field units to ensure their safety and the safety of the public.
- Update incident status and ensure follow-up on all calls.
- Maintain professional demeanor and composure under high-pressure situations.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
- U.S. Citizenship or legal permanent residency status.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, and medical exam.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong multitasking abilities and proficiency with computer systems.
