Responsibilities
- Process emergency/non-emergency calls and prioritize incidents using department protocols
- Operate multi-channel radio systems to coordinate police, fire, and EMS responses
- Enter and update critical information in CAD/RMS systems with precision
- Provide clear, calm instructions to callers during emergency situations
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incident details
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during active incidents
- Complete mandatory training modules on crisis intervention and dispatch procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Proficiency with computer systems and multi-tasking in high-stress environments
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional active listening skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- U.S. citizenship and Virginia residency required
