Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with accuracy and compassion
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems and radio protocols
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Coordinate with fire, medical, and other emergency services
- Utilize NCIC and state databases for background checks
- Remain calm during critical incidents and provide clear instructions
- Complete all mandated dispatcher training modules
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid California driver's license
- Clear criminal background check and polygraph examination
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM
- Ability to pass hearing and vision tests
- Experience in customer service or crisis management
- Proficiency with computer-aided dispatch systems
