Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize veteran medical records in compliance with federal regulations (HIPAA, 38 CFR Part 17)
- Process incoming/outgoing documentation with accuracy and timeliness
- Utilize VA's electronic health record systems (VistA, Cerner) for data entry and retrieval
- Conduct regular audits to ensure record integrity and accessibility
- Coordinate with medical staff and veteran support teams for record requests
- Implement document retention and destruction schedules per federal guidelines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year records management or administrative experience
- Familiarity with federal record-keeping regulations (e.g., NARA guidelines)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk security clearance
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
