Responsibilities
- Manage Pension Processing: Accurately calculate and disburse pension benefits to retirees in accordance with state regulations and individual service agreements.
- Retiree Inquiries: Provide exceptional customer service to current and former employees regarding pension questions, eligibility, and benefit projections.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain rigorous records of pension applications, amendments, and compliance with ERISA and state-specific retirement laws.
- Data Management: Utilize state databases to update employee service records and ensure data integrity across all retirement accounts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the payroll department and HR team to resolve discrepancies and ensure seamless integration of benefits.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on pension fund status and processing metrics for management review.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; High school diploma with significant experience will be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, payroll, or public sector retirement services.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar state-specific software).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of government pension structures, state retirement laws, and labor regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
