Join the City and County of San Francisco's Retirement Services Division as a Pension Benefits Administrator. In this pivotal role, you'll manage pension plans for thousands of public employees, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and optimizing retirement security for our dedicated workforce. Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans including vesting calculations, benefit disbursements, and retirement eligibility verification
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California state pension laws
- Process complex retirement applications and provide benefit counseling to employees and retirees
- Develop and maintain pension databases with accurate actuarial and demographic data
- Collaborate with finance teams on funding projections and financial reporting
- Conduct audits and quality reviews to ensure data integrity and procedural accuracy
- Prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders including the Retirement Board and City Controller
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial services
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., UltiPro, PeopleFluent)
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 415/416 regulations, and California pension statutes
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data and legal documents
- Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder engagement and benefit counseling
- CPA, CEBS, or similar certification highly desirable
