Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans including member enrollments, contribution calculations, and benefit distributions
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and conduct annual plan audits
- Manage vendor relationships for record-keeping systems and investment reporting
- Prepare comprehensive reports for city council and retirement board meetings
- Develop educational materials for participants regarding retirement options
- Analyze actuarial data and recommend plan design improvements
- Coordinate with HR on employee terminations and benefit transitions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- SPBC or QPA certification strongly preferred
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Albridge)
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a), and Texas retirement systems
- Advanced Excel skills with complex financial modeling capabilities
- Ability to communicate complex benefit concepts to non-finance audiences
- Texas driver's license and clean driving record
