Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans ensuring compliance with ERISA, CalPERS regulations, and municipal policies
- Manage member enrollment, service credit calculations, and retirement benefit disbursements
- Conduct actuarial valuations and prepare financial reports for City Council oversight
- Develop and implement pension investment strategies aligned with fiduciary responsibilities
- Coordinate with auditors and legal counsel to ensure regulatory compliance
- Lead member education workshops on retirement planning options
- Oversee pension system technology platforms and data integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension administration experience in public sector or regulated environment
- CPA, CFA, or SPHR certification strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in pension management software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Deep knowledge of California pension laws and federal ERISA requirements
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
