Responsibilities
- Administer state pension plans ensuring compliance with California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations and federal ERISA standards
- Analyze financial data to monitor plan solvency, conduct benefit calculations, and prepare regulatory reports
- Advise state employees on retirement planning, benefit options, and pension eligibility requirements
- Collaborate with finance, HR, and audit teams to resolve pension-related inquiries and discrepancies
- Develop and implement process improvements for pension administration workflows
- Stay current on legislative changes affecting public pensions and update procedures accordingly
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 4 years of experience in pension plan administration, benefits management, or public finance
- Deep knowledge of California pension regulations (CalPERS), ERISA compliance, and GAAP
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software and MS Excel/Power BI
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail for complex financial calculations
- Strong communication abilities for advising diverse stakeholders and regulatory reporting
