Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans in strict compliance with ERISA, IRS, and CalPERS regulations
- Process retirement applications, calculate benefits, and maintain accurate member records
- Provide expert guidance to plan participants regarding eligibility, distribution options, and retirement planning
- Conduct comprehensive audits of pension records and financial transactions
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and HR teams on compliance initiatives and system upgrades
- Prepare mandatory reports for regulatory bodies and governing boards
- Develop educational materials for participants on retirement planning and benefit options
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in public sector
- Expertise in ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and CalPERS guidelines
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in benefit calculations and financial modeling
- Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder engagement and training
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or similar designation preferred
