As a Pension Plan Administrator, you'll manage retirement benefits for over 10,000 municipal workers, ensuring compliance with ERISA and Colorado state regulations. Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans including actuarial calculations, benefit distributions, and participant communications
- Ensure compliance with federal (ERISA) and state pension regulations through audits and reporting
- Manage investment portfolios and collaborate with financial advisors to optimize fund performance
- Develop and implement retirement education programs for municipal employees
- Oversee plan amendments and policy updates in coordination with legal counsel
- Lead annual open enrollment periods and benefit eligibility reviews
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements and board reports for pension trustees
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration or benefits management experience
- SPBC (Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries) or ASPPA certification required
- Expertise in ERISA compliance, fiduciary responsibilities, and pension accounting
- Advanced proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Provenance)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in actuarial valuations and financial modeling
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for stakeholder engagement
- Valid Colorado driver's license and ability to pass background check
