Responsibilities
- Manage daily pension plan operations including contributions, distributions, and member record-keeping
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, CalPERS regulations, and government accounting standards
- Collaborate with investment advisors to monitor fund performance and asset allocation
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for city council, auditors, and plan participants
- Develop and implement retirement education programs for city employees
- Conduct actuarial valuations and benefit calculations
- Lead system upgrades for pension administration software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits experience
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k) regulations, and California pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Parnassus, Oracle HCM)
- CPA or CFA designation strongly preferred
- Proven experience with government fund accounting and GASB standards
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to regulatory compliance
- Valid California driver's license
