Responsibilities
- Administer the City's defined benefit pension plan, including benefit calculations, vesting determinations, and retirement processing
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, KRS) and pension board policies
- Manage participant communications, educational workshops, and retirement counseling services
- Oversee investment accounting, actuarial reporting, and financial statement preparation
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and investment advisors
- Develop and maintain accurate participant records using pension administration software
- Analyze pension fund performance and recommend strategic adjustments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits experience
- Proficiency in pension administration systems (e.g., Millennium, NCPERS)
- Strong understanding of ERISA, IRS regulations, and Kansas pension laws
- CPA, CEBS, or PRM certification preferred
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
