Responsibilities
- Manage pension plan administration including benefit calculations, distributions, and record-keeping
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, IRS, CalPERS) and internal policies
- Develop and implement retirement education programs for active and retired employees
- Analyze financial data and prepare actuarial reports for city council review
- Coordinate with external vendors, auditors, and legal counsel for compliance audits
- Lead system upgrades for pension management software and data migration projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in public sector
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or CERA certification preferred
- Advanced proficiency in pension management systems (e.g., CalPERS, Oracle HCM)
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and California pension laws
- Experience with actuarial reporting and financial modeling
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in complex calculations
