Responsibilities
- Manage and administer state pension plans including investment strategies, benefit calculations, and participant communications
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and NC state pension statutes
- Process retirement applications, distributions, and loan requests with 99.9% accuracy
- Develop and maintain comprehensive participant education materials on retirement planning
- Collaborate with investment analysts to monitor portfolio performance and risk metrics
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports for the State Treasurer's office
- Conduct audits and reconciliation of pension fund accounts
- Lead system upgrades and process improvements for pension administration software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in public sector or regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and NC pension statutes
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration systems (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designation required
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Proven ability to manage confidential employee data with HIPAA/GDPR compliance
- Experience leading cross-functional projects with stakeholder management
