Responsibilities
- Manage daily pension plan administration including benefit calculations, disbursements, and record maintenance
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, CalPERS regulations, and municipal pension laws
- Develop and implement strategic investment strategies to optimize fund performance
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports and actuarial valuations for stakeholders
- Collaborate with auditors during annual compliance reviews and financial examinations
- Design and deliver retirement education programs for employees
- Oversee plan amendments and policy updates reflecting legislative changes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in public sector
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or CFA certification preferred
- Expertise in ERISA, IRS 415/401(a) regulations, and CalPERS guidelines
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical information to diverse audiences
- Valid California driver's license
