Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans in compliance with ERISA and New Mexico state regulations
- Process retirement applications, calculate benefits, and maintain accurate participant records
- Conduct annual valuations and prepare regulatory filings for pension funds
- Develop and implement communication strategies for retirement plan participants
- Collaborate with auditors, legal counsel, and investment advisors on compliance matters
- Analyze plan financials and provide recommendations for plan sustainability
- Manage participant inquiries and resolve complex retirement benefit issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration experience with public sector or multi-employer plans
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and New Mexico pension statutes
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Albridge)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or similar designation preferred
- Strong analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience with retirement plan audits and regulatory reporting
