Responsibilities
- Administer pension benefits including retirement calculations, disability claims, and survivor benefits
- Ensure strict adherence to ERISA, IRS, and California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations
- Process complex retirement applications and conduct benefit eligibility reviews
- Develop and maintain accurate participant records using SAP HCM and pension administration software
- Collaborate with finance and HR teams on plan funding strategies and actuarial valuations
- Respond to participant inquiries with clear, empathetic communication
- Prepare comprehensive reports for management and regulatory bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience with public sector or multi-employer plans
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS Code 401(a), and CalPERS regulations
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and pension administration software (e.g., Deloitte, Mercer)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex actuarial reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder interactions
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) preferred
- Experience with SAP HCM systems highly desirable
