Responsibilities
- Administer pension benefits calculations and distributions for 50,000+ active and retired state employees
- Ensure compliance with federal/state pension laws and IRS regulations
- Process retirement applications, QDROs, and member inquiries with 24-hour turnaround
- Analyze pension fund data and prepare quarterly actuarial reports
- Collaborate with HR departments on retirement planning workshops
- Audit benefit discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
- Manage vendor relationships for pension software and recordkeeping
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Public Administration required
- 5+ years pension administration experience with government/ERISA plans
- SPBC or QKA certification preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and pension management software
- Strong knowledge of IRS 415/401(a) limits and CalPERS regulations
- Experience with member communication and conflict resolution
- Ability to manage confidential financial data with discretion
- Valid California driver's license
