Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans ensuring compliance with ERISA and Colorado state regulations
- Process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and distribution schedules
- Conduct ongoing plan audits and financial reporting for City Council oversight
- Develop educational workshops for employees on retirement planning and investment options
- Collaborate with finance team on actuarial valuations and funding strategies
- Manage vendor relationships and investment portfolio performance monitoring
- Prepare comprehensive compliance documentation for regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years pension plan administration or benefits management experience
- SPBC or QPA certification strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and Colorado PERA guidelines
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Benefit Systems)
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to complex financial calculations
