Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for 3,000+ municipal employees
- Ensure compliance with federal (ERISA/IRS) and state pension regulations
- Process retiree benefit calculations and distributions
- Conduct annual actuarial valuations and funding analyses
- Manage participant communications and retirement counseling sessions
- Oversee plan investments and coordinate with external fiduciaries
- Prepare regulatory filings and Board reports
- Implement system upgrades for pension administration software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience
- SPBA or CEBS certification required
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and pension administration systems
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 415/416 regulations, and Texas pension laws
- Strong analytical skills with financial modeling experience
- Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder engagement
- Public sector or municipal pension experience highly valued
