Responsibilities
- Administer retirement plans for 5,000+ public employees including eligibility calculations and benefit disbursements
- Ensure compliance with Florida Retirement System (FRS) regulations and IRS 401(a) requirements
- Manage pension fund investments alongside the County's financial advisors
- Prepare annual actuarial valuations and financial reports for County Commission review
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding retirement options and benefits
- Coordinate with external auditors and legal counsel for compliance verification
- Develop educational materials for pre-retirement planning workshops
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation preferred
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., NaviPlan, Millennium)
- Deep understanding of ERISA regulations and Florida retirement statutes
- Exceptional analytical skills for complex benefit calculations
