Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for Ohio public employees, including retirement calculations, benefit payments, and member record maintenance
- Ensure compliance with federal (ERISA), state, and IRS regulations governing public pension systems
- Conduct complex financial analyses, actuarial valuations, and funding projections for pension portfolios
- Develop and implement administrative policies/procedures for plan operations and member services
- Collaborate with investment teams to align pension strategies with fiduciary responsibilities
- Prepare regulatory reports, disclosures, and financial statements for state oversight bodies
- Provide technical guidance to plan participants, employers, and internal stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in public sector or regulated environment
- Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a)/403(b) regulations, and Ohio Revised Code pension provisions
- Professional certifications (e.g., CEBS, CFA, CPA, or ASPPA) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Oracle, Milliman, or similar systems)
- Exceptional analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data and actuarial reports
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for regulatory reporting and stakeholder engagement
