Responsibilities
- Manage and administer public pension funds, including investment portfolio oversight and disbursement processing
- Ensure strict compliance with ERISA, IRS, and California Public Employees' Retirement System regulations
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for stakeholders including Board of Trustees and regulatory bodies
- Develop and implement retirement benefit programs for city/county employees
- Conduct eligibility audits and provide personalized retirement counseling to beneficiaries
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and HR departments to align pension strategies with organizational goals
- Lead system upgrades for pension administration software (e.g., Oracle PeopleSoft)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of pension plan administration experience in government or regulated sector
- Proficiency with pension management software and advanced Excel modeling
- Deep knowledge of federal/state pension regulations (ERISA, IRS 401(a), CalPERS)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) designation
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail and compliance accuracy
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for stakeholder reporting
- Ability to manage confidential data with highest ethical standards
